GCU Chancellor Professor Muhammad Yunus and Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto have inaugurated the Global Social Business Summit 2014 in Mexico City (November 27).

The motto of this year’s Summit is “Shaping Social Business - To Shape the World of 2020”.

It is the first time the Summit has been held in the Americas.

Organised by Grameen Creative lab and Yunus Centre, the event gathers experts from the private sector, civil society, governments and academia for four days of meetings, forums and workshops to spread awareness of social business, foster collaboration and conceive best practices.

Participants will hear first-hand accounts from representatives of social business organisations from Bangladesh and around the world.

The 2014 Summit has been organised in partnership with Green Street, The Earth's Fund in Mexico and has a strong network of supporting partners that include Ashoka, Banamex, Cemex, Monterrey Institute of Technology, the National Institute of Entrepreneurship and Televisa Foundation.

Prior to the opening of the Summit, there was a Research Conference, opened by Professor Cam Donaldson of GCU’s Yunus Centre for Social Business and Health, and a Young Challengers Meeting for selected participants.
