Digitised dissertations

Digitised dissertations

In response to popular demand, the library has made dissertations available online. We will no longer accept printed items, send dissertations as PDF files. Please send a completed library deposit declaration form for projects and dissertations‌ along with the dissertation. We regret that we cannot make any dissertation available without a completed form. At present the dissertations are not available on the Discover search. However, you can browse the titles available on GCULearn.

  • Each programme can select their best dissertations (perhaps five or six) and submit them to the library using the DDIL dropbox.
    • You can open it by copying this link:
      file://enterprise.gcal.ac.uk/gcu/Staff/DDT_Incoming/
    • or
smb://citstaff.enterprise.gcal.ac.uk/Staff_Space$/DDT_Incoming (if you are using a Mac)
  • Open Windows explorer (from the start button on your computer) and click Documents.
  • Paste the link into the directory box at the top of the window.
  • Drag and drop your files into the dissertations folder
  • Please email us with details of your files and any extra information to help us process them.
  • Our preferred format is a PDF file, this will allow us to process them faster.
  • The departments should ensure that there is no business sensitive material included in the selected dissertations, and that they have been passed through Turnitin.
  • Departments should ensure that students sign a GCU library deposit declaration for projects and dissertations‌ authorising the library to make their dissertation available.

We will store them in the content area of GCULearn.

  • Selected undergraduate and masters dissertations will be retained for three years
  • This policy will be reviewed on a regular basis with the departments
