Resource lists - information for students

What are resource lists?

Resource lists are online reading lists created for you by your lecturers, giving you easy access to all your course reading materials in one place. Resource lists will provide you with direct links to any ebooks and journal articles that may be included on your list, as well as the library location and availability of any print books. Your lecturers will tag the resources to indicate their importance level to you, either essential reading, recommended reading or further reading. The library has made sure that all books on your resource list are available online where possible.

You can access your resource List from your module within GCULearn. Alternatively, you can search for your list on the resource lists homepage.

What are the benefits of resource lists to me?
  • Resource lists provide easy access to all your course reading in one place
  • Spend less time searching and more time reading key resources
  • Sort or filter your list by resource type (ebook, journal article etc) or by priority (essential, recommended or further reading)
  • Create your own collection of useful resources
  • Export your list in your preferred citation style to a Word document or PDF
  • You can access your resource list directly from your module in GCULearn
Resource lists student guide

The library has produced a resource list student guide. The guide will help you to:

  • Find a resource list
  • View a list, search for items on a list and manage your reading
  • Export your resource list as a bibliography
  • Link your RefWorks account

We have also produced a resource list student guide video:

Resource list FAQs

Where can I access my resource lists?

You can access your resource List from your module within GCULearn. Alternatively, you can search for your list on the resource lists homepage.

Why can’t I find a resource list for my module?

Not all modules will have had a resource list submitted to the library. If there is not a resource list available for your module, please consider asking your lecturer to use the Library’s resource lists service. Alternatively you can contact the library at resourcelists@gcu.ac.uk and we can investigate on your behalf.

Why am I having trouble accessing an item on my resource list?

If a web link within the Links & Availability section of an online resource on your list isn’t working, please click the Mark as Broken button to report this to the library. We will email you to let you know once the link is working again. Alternatively you can email the team at ertenq@gcu.ac.uk.

Where can I get help using resource lists at GCU?

If you have any questions about the resource lists system or how to use it, please contact your librarian
