Additional eresources to support remote learning

During the closure of the Sir Alex Ferguson Library, we are endeavouring to ensure all our users have online access to any resources that they may require, where possible.

Library ebooks

We are currently working with our ebook platforms to ensure uninterrupted access to our ebooks for all users. You can find more information about our ebook collections including how to search ebook publisher sites and find subject specific collections on our ebook webpage.

Temporary eresources 

A number of publishers have opened up access to their collections for a limited period. Users may find the eresources below useful as a source of extended reading during this time. 


Science Direct

Elsevier are offering access to 256 ebooks on their Science Direct platform for 90 days.

All 699 Ohio State University Press ebooks are now available for free to read online.

Brill are offering free access to ebooks and articles on topics such as public health, distance learning and crisis research.

Bloomsbury Professional's Scots Law Online

For a limited time, Bloomsbury are opening up free online access to the following Scots Law textbooks:

Elearning platform VitalSource has joined with leading publishers to help ensure students affected by the COVID-19 pandemic will have free access to select ebooks on their platform until 30th June 2020.

How can users get access?

To get started, visit‚Äč. Before users can begin searching for and reading ebooks, they will need to create a new Bookshelf account using their university email address. They will not be able to gain free access to content unless an institutional email address is used.

How many titles may be accessed for free?

Students will have the ability to access ONLY seven free ebook titles from VitalSource. Once the seven titles are selected and borrowed, students will not be able to exchange or return these for other titles.

IEEE are offering free access to their elearning library for a limited time. Users can access almost 500 online videos across 16 subject areas.
