This page lists frequently asked questions about the closure of the library due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the planned reopening in September 2020.

As the phased reopening of the library progresses we will add more questions to this page. If you cannot find the answer to your question here then please contact us.

I have items on loan from before 7th September 2020, what do I do?

All items borrowed prior to the library re-opening on the 7th September 2020 are due for return by Wednesday 21st October 2020.

Please return all items using the external book drop at the main entrance to the library. 

You will not be charged any fines in relation to these items.

If you are unable to return items please contact the library by email at library@gcu.ac.uk.

I want to request a physical book or collect a physical book I have requested, what do I do?

Can I request an inter-library loan?

Physical items cannot be requested for inter-library loan however eresources may be available. Requests can be placed direct from Discover by either:

  • Carrying out your search and selecting Expand My Results Beyond GCU Library Collections; choose the Get It tab where available and sign in; click Inter-library loan request,you will be taken to the request form which will be automatically populated with the information about your chosen item.
  • or, using our Inter-library loan request form. You must log in to use this form and input the information about your request.
