Welcome to the first edition of Impact, our new digital magazine showcasing how Glasgow Caledonian’s research is making a real difference to business, communities, and society. As the University for the Common Good, we’re transforming lives through outstanding education, research, and partnerships - locally, nationally and internationally.

Impact magazine brings our mission to life, showcasing the real-world impact of our work, from influencing policy, improving businesses, and strengthening public services to addressing health, social justice and sustainability challenges. You’ll discover how we work with businesses and communities to respond to society’s most pressing needs.

With research focusing on inclusive societieshealthy lives, and sustainable environments, and aligned with our three Academic Schools - the Glasgow School for Business and Society, the School of Health and Life Sciences, and the School of Science and Engineering, 72% of our research is considered to be world-leading or internationally excellent (REF 2021). Our health research is surpassed only by King’s College London for outstanding impact.

We work in close partnership and collaborate with numerous bodies including the Scottish Government, NHS Scotland, Glasgow City Council and local businesses, as well as internationally with the World Health Organization, the African Development Bank, and European Commission.

If you’d like to know more about our research, collaborate on Knowledge Transfer Partnerships or are interested in our PhD opportunities, please contact impactmagazine@gcu.ac.uk.

We look forward to working with you to create meaningful change together.
