Tom McAlear
Lecturer Adult Nursing
Department of Nursing and Community Health
I have been a member of the nursing team at GCU since 2006, before which my clinical background included practise in general and colorectal surgery; development and management of a Pre-Admission Assessment service for patients undergoing general and urological surgery; and working as part of a team of Practice Education Facilitators that developed the role throughout NHS Argyll and Clyde.
I am programme leader for the BSc / BSc (Hons) Professional Studies in Nursing. Prior to this I was involved in pre-registration nurse education as a member of the BA (Hons) Nursing Studies (BAHNS) programme; and module leader for Introduction to Adult Nursing, which was delivered across both the Bachelor of Nursing (BN) and BAHNS.
My interests are:
• Post-registration education and professional development.
• Interprofessional education
