Bright was awarded a Chevening Scholarship in 2016 to pursue an MSc in Clinical Ophthalmology and Vision Research (COVR) at GCU. He graduated as overall Best student on the programme and won the Magnus Magnusson award (2017) to fund the set-up of a multidisciplinary team delivering comprehensive care for diabetic patients in rural Ghana. He was involved with clinical practice and mentorship after the completion of his Masters programme in 2017.
Bright returned to GCU in 2018 to undertake a PhD in visual function in the visual perception research group at the Department of Vision Sciences. Alongside his research position at GCU, he is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA) and is involved in supporting clinical teaching on the Vision Sciences Programmes.
He is supervised by Dr. Graeme Kennedy, Dr. Andrew Logan, Prof. Niall Strang, Dr. Gael Gordon and Prof. Loffler Gunter
