Louise, a qualified Independent Prescribing Optometrist, graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University with a BSc (Hons) in Optometry in 2004. After a couple of years in community practice, she undertook a PhD and subsequently a post-doctoral position in the field of dry eye disease and ocular therapeutics. Appointed a Lecturer in Vision Sciences in 2012, she is currently module lead and deputy programme lead of the postgraduate Therapeutic Prescribing for Optometrists course. She also teaches on the undergraduate contact lens and clinical studies modules and is clinic lead and supervisor of the specialist dry eye clinic in the Eye Clinic at GCU.

Louiseā€™s research interests are mainly in the fields of anterior eye disease, ocular therapeutics and contact lenses. She has published a number of papers in these fields and has co-authored a book chapter on dry eye disease.
