Dr Lana Ireland is a chartered psychologist, working as a lecturer and researcher in psychology, with an interest in social, forensic and health psychology. Dr Ireland is a member of the Substance Use and Misuse Research Group which falls under the Healthy Lives and Relationships research strand at GCU. Recent research has included the UNITING project, which studied barriers and facilitators for immunisations among Traveller and Gypsy groups; the GLASS project, looking at normal drinking patterns among LGBT groups in Scotland; and the SCOTIA project, which involved an investigation into the roles of alcohol in domestic abuse. Dr Ireland has research interests in identity and marginalised groups, qualitative methods and questionnaire design. She also leads GCU's Graduate Diploma Psychology programme, and undergraduate modules on social and political psychology.
