John Murray

Lecturer Adult Nursing
John Murray worked as a nurse within the UK’s National Health Service from 1979 till 2004 when he joined the Adult Nursing team at Glasgow Caledonian University.
He began his nursing career in the Mental Health sector working in Acute Admissions, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and finally as Charge Nurse of a Drug and Alcohol Treatment Unit.

He then retrained and moved to General or Adult nursing where he worked in a mixture of critical areas, with the longest period spent in Coronary Care, before becoming Charge Nurse in a General Medical Receiving Ward and, following that, a Specialist Stroke Unit. The final years of his NHS career were spent as a Senior Nurse with responsibility for Staff Continuing Professional Development across a number of hospital sites.

After completing a Masters in Adult and Continuing Education at Glasgow University he joined the Adult Nursing team lecturing at Glasgow Caledonian University.
In addition to his lecturing roles he also coordinates admissions to the adult field of the Bachelor of Nursing.
