Fiona Ritchie

Fiona trained as a registered nurse at Glasgow Western and Gartnavel Hospitals in 1983. She worked as a Staff nurse in various theatres and undertook the NBS theatre course before becoming a Theatre Sister at the Victoria Infirmary in Glasgow. She was an internal assessor for the SVQ in Operating Department Practice and in 2003 became a member of the development board for the Diploma in Operating Department Practice at Glasgow Caledonian University.

Fiona was appointed as a lecturer on the new Diploma programme in 2004. Fiona is a module leader for several undergraduate modules. She continues to work in clinical practice for one day each week, as a surgical practitioner and this allows her to remain up to date with contemporary perioperative care. Fiona is the Admissions Tutor for the BSc Operating Department Practice.
