Lecturer Adult Nursing, Placement Coordinator
Department of Nursing and Community Health
I am a registered adult nurse with over 20 years of nursing experience in both acute and community settings. My background is firmly rooted in practice and in particular critical care. I worked as a sister in the intensive care unit (ICU) leading a team of nurses providing care to level 2/3 patients requiring support for multi-organ failure.
I am also a specialist community public health nurse and worked as a Health Visitor providing services to vulnerable children and families.
I have worked in nurse education since 2001, initially as a nurse lecturer in the University of the West of Scotland teaching on pre-registration as well as post-registration nursing programmes.
I moved to GCU in 2007, teaching on the BA (Honours) Nursing Studies programme as a lecturer.
I am a module leader in year 3 for 2 modules and am currently the programme leader. I have also recently taken up post as the Lead for Practice Learning within the Department.
