Elaine Gardiner

Lecturer in Diagnostic Imaging/Prog Lead MSc Medical Ultrasound
Elaine graduated with a BSc in Diagnostic Radiography from Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh in 1998 and gained a variety of clinical experience as a Radiographer before specialising in Obstetric Ultrasound. She successfully completed an MSc in Medical Ultrasound at the University of Derby, where she is now an external examiner, prior to taking up post as Lead Sonographer for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

Elaine has acted as a visiting lecturer for the MSc Medical Ultrasound programme since 2008 and joined the Diagnostic Imaging team as a full-time lecturer in 2014. In 2016, Elaine became Programme Lead for the MSc Medical Ultrasound programme and has recently completed a PgC in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education.

Elaine continues to maintain her clinical skills in obstetric ultrasound, retaining an honorary NHS contract. She is a member of the Society and College of Radiographer’s ultrasound advisory group and accreditor for the Consortium for the Accreditation of Sonographic Education (CASE).
