Alice graduated from the then Glasgow College of Technology (now GCU) in 1984. After completing her pre-registration year between the Tennent Institute of Ophthalmology and Glasgow Eye Infirmary, Alice qualified as an Optometrist in 1985. She spent many years in private practice as well as working in the Hospital Eye Service and as part of the Diabetic Retinopathy Screening Service. Alice worked as a Clinical Demonstrator here at Glasgow Caledonian University on a sessional basis from 2000, before taking up the Clinical Demonstrator staff position in January 2009. In 2014 Alice was appointed as a Lecturer and completed her PhD which used visual psychophysics to look at the effects of axial myopia on visual performance. Alice also holds a research post at the University of Edinburgh where she is part of a team developing an objective visual field test. Alice sits on the local Area Optometric Committee. Her main areas of interest are visual fields, myopia and OCT.
