Scott is a full-time lecturer within the Department of Social Work. Scott qualified as a social worker from the University of Glasgow and subsequently worked in statutory criminal justice settings for over ten years. He joined GCU as a part-time lecturer in 2012 before going full time in 2015. Scott has recently been involved in developing new national standards for criminal justice social work in Scotland, as well as co-leading a national five-year longitudinal survey into newly-qualified social workers. Scott currently sits on the editorial board of the British Journal of Social Work. His research interests include the sociology of organisations; the use of Bourdieu in contemporary research; intersections of sociology and criminal justice; policy and practice of community justice; criminal justice fields; and the professional identity of social workers. Scott is the current Postgraduate Research Tutor for social work, psychology and allied health sciences.
