The BSc (Hons) Podiatry programme is the only AHP programme in the UK to offer a Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) approved academic exchange programme, developed between La Trobe University, Melbourne (Australia), and GCU. Both programmes have had their modules mapped and approved, which allows podiatry students from GCU to spend a whole trimester in Melbourne and also invites podiatry students from Melbourne over to Glasgow to join GCU for a trimester.
This benefits the individual students, who get the chance to experience a new culture and different learning and teaching styles, but also enhances GCU’s knowledge exchange – with Australian students sharing their experiences and practices with the class and the lecturers while they are here.
This is an exchange programme that has created great communication links between these two professional programmes and their institutions.
Louise Moore was one of the first GCU Podiatry students to spend a trimester as an exchange student in Melbourne. In this video she talks about her experience.
