Jamie McDermott

Jamie completed his undergraduate studies in 1998 at GCU followed by a postgraduate degree at the University of Stirling. He joined GCU in 2008 as a Research Fellow having spent the previous decade mainly in leadership and management roles across community care services in Scotland. Jamie has extensive experience in the leadership and modernization of community care services and in developing organizational approaches that are person-centred. In 2009 he took up a Lectureship and currently teaches across undergraduate and post graduate programmes with the Department of Occupational Therapy and Human Nutrition and Dietetics as well as in School-wide interprofessional education modules. He is currently the Subject Assessment Coordinator and Year Coordinator for Year 2 of the MSc Occupational Therapy (Pre-registration) programme. Jamie is actively engaged in a number of School and University initiatives aimed at enhancing academic feedback for students. He is a member of the University Feedback Enhancement Group and leads the School of Health and Life Sciences Feedback Enhancement Group. A guiding principle in Jamie’s approach to learning and teaching is that the whole experience should be fun for both him and the students he has the pleasure of working with!
