Gordon is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Nursing and Community Health, at Glasgow Caledonian University. His Departmental role has a focus on international opportunities, which include international recruitment, development of trans-national educational provision, international continual professional development opportunities and summer school provision.

Gordon has a background in Clinical Research, which started in 1994 when he got his first clinical research nurse post working on academic and commercial trials. In 1996 he was appointed as the Associate Nurse Manager in the Clinical Research Facility in Edinburgh. During his time at the CRF he developed an interest in the education and training of CRNs and upon moving to Higher education in 2006 he established courses in Clinical Research. The programmes he led included undergraduate and post graduate qualifications in the UK and an MSc in Clinical Research in Singapore.

He also established the Scottish Research Nurse and Co-ordinators Network in 2005. The SRNCN is still going strong and holds an annual conference in Dundee with the theme of ‘Celebrating the contribution of Clinical Research Nurses’. He remains an expert in the field and has given Clinical Research Masterclasses in China and Taiwan.
