Strong financial management is vital to all organisations and the role of the accounting professional is complex, varied and subject to many different pressures. The MSc Accounting, Finance and Regulation course reflects this, covering not only the core areas of accountancy but also key financial and risk topics relevant to your future career. Regulation is fundamental to accounting and finance and is a feature of many of the modules you will study.

Our two-year masters courses give you the chance to develop your knowledge and professional skills with an extended work placement.

You'll experience all the benefits of a regular masters, but with the additional advantage of a further professional practice placement over two trimesters. You'll be fully supported and prepared for your placement, and graduate with significant work experience, in-depth knowledge and understanding of your chosen sector. Complete the MSc in just eight months when you already hold a professional qualification. A full professional qualification from any accountancy body in the world that is recognised by the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) provides you with 90 credits towards the MSc.

Join us in January on a fast track route that takes just eight months to complete and comprises of two subject-specific modules; Strategic Financial Management and Financial Services Regulation, and the Masters Research Project.

Typical entry requirements

Typical entry requirements: UK honours degree 2:2 (or equivalent) in any subject area.

Fast track

For the fast-track programme, a full professional qualification from any accountancy body in the world that is recognised by the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) is required and provides you with 90 credits towards the MSc.

English language

English language: Academic IELTS score of 6.0 (or equivalent) with no element below 5.5.

Please note: if you are from a majority English speaking country, you may not be required to provide further proof of your English Language proficiency.

Other academic and vocational qualifications

Each application to GCU is considered on an individual basis. If you do not have the typical academic entry qualifications, but can demonstrate relevant work experience and/or credits from recognised professional bodies, you may be eligible to enter this course via the University's Recognition of Prior Learning scheme.
