Brian Smith

Brian is an experienced marketing professional, marketing consultant and academic teacher.

His career spans 27 years in marketing, retailing and teaching in industries including major retailers such as Marks and Spencer, global advertising agencies such as McCann Erickson, successful SME’s such as Slaters (Menswear) and most recently major utilities such as SSE plc.

He has held senior commercial marketing roles whilst developing his academic career at GCU and uses his vast industry experience to deliver relevant and innovative teaching to students, giving them the best possible preparation for a marketing based career.

Brian is a graduate of the University of Ulster and has a Masters degree in marketing from the University of South Wales.

His main research interests are in social marketing in all its forms and in particular in relation to the prevention of violence and anti-social behaviour.

Brian is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing. He is currently working on a PhD in social marketing.
