Margaret McCann

Associate Dean Learning, Teaching & Quality
Margaret McCann is Associate Dean: Learning, Teaching & Quality. She has previously held roles of Assistant Head: Learning, Teaching & Quality and Senior Lecturer in Department of Management. She has a BSc in Information Systems and MPhil in Development & Evaluation of Computer Aided Learning. She also holds a TQFE (Teaching Qualification in Further Education) and is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Her main teaching is in management, specifically innovation management and project management and she has considerable experience supervising student dissertations at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Margaret’s recent research has followed two main streams. One stream is enhancing the experience of students articulating from FE colleges to university. This research has included one project examining factors which affect direct entry students’ confidence, while another project researched ways to improve students’ functional writing skills. The other stream of research has involved examining how SMEs measure the effectiveness and return on investment from social media.
