Margaret McCann

Associate Dean Learning, Teaching & Quality
Margaret McCann is Head of the School’s Learning Development Centre as well as Assistant Head of Learning, Teaching & Quality. She has a BSc in Information Systems and MPhil in Development & Evaluation of Computer Aided Learning. She also holds a TQFE (Teaching Qualification in Further Education) and is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

She is currently programme leader for the BA (Hons) Management and BA (Hons) Management, Technology and Enterprise programmes. Her main teaching is in management, specifically innovation management and project management and she has considerable experience supervising student dissertations at undergraduate and postgraduate level. She is also the blended learning lead for the Department of Business Management.

Margaret’s recent research has followed two main streams. She is currently involved in two research projects enhancing the experience of students articulating from FE colleges to university. One project is examining factors which affect direct entry students’ confidence, while the other aims to improve functional writing skills. Margaret has also recently been involved in projects examining how SMEs measure the effectiveness and return on investment when using social media.
