Linda Shearer is a Senior Lecturer in Fashion and currently leads a suite of 11 MSc Postgraduate programmes in the Department of Business Management. A graduate of Edinburgh College of Art (BA Hons Fashion Design) and Glasgow School of Art (MPhil) Linda has worked as a designer in the mass-market fashion industry as well as freelancing for a range of market sectors and continues to work as a consultant on commissioned projects, primarily for SMEs. The industry feeds into her teaching practice and she has established a series of industry sponsored student projects over the last ten years, the most recent with a Chinese fashion company. In the process of completing a PhD, Linda’s research interests lie in the interrelationship of dress and identity within everyday situational contexts and through the process of change. As part of a research group in vintage retailing, she also publishes in this area and was recently awarded by the Textile Institute for the ‘most outstanding journal publication of the year’. Linda contributes to various cross-School activities including the Leadership Team for the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) and is an External Examiner at Westminster University and Glasgow School of Art.
