Dr Davidson joined GCU in 2007 and is a Senior Lecturer in Politics. There are two main strands to his research. The first of these focuses on the intersection of environmental political theory, state theory and political economy, while the second assesses prospects for institutionalising deliberative modes of civic participation within representative institutions. Dr Davidson recently commenced research into the moral status of animals and the strategies of animal welfare/rights groups. He was awarded his PhD in Politics from the University of Strathclyde.
