In the Mid 2000s Stevie moved to a newly developed role as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner. This lead to him taking up a joint appointment between GCU and NHS Forth Valley; a 2-year part time fixed term post as a lecturer / practitioner, where he helped deliver Advancing Practice modules. He later became the Lead Resuscitation Officer at Forth Valley Hospital in Falkirk.
In 2014 Stevie moved fully into higher education when he took up a lecturing post at UWS, where he taught into the BSc Nursing and the MSc Advanced Nursing Practice Programmes. Then in August 2016, Stevie joined GCU as a lecturer and teaches into all years of the BSc Nursing Studies programme, and is the Deputy Programme Lead for the MSc Nursing: Advancing Professional Practice. He is also a member of the Association of Advanced Practitioners Educators, is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and is the External Examiner for Ulster University’s MSc Advanced Nursing Practice Programme.
