I am looking at the ageing and identity of Masters athletes in the Highland Games. A cultural event embedded in the history of Scotland. This fascinating cohort provides a previously untapped resource, which will add to the building research fields of ageing and identity. Combining both fields of ageing and sporting disciplines, these athletes challenge typical connotations and ideals of both ageing and embodiment. Gaining knowledge in this area will involve both participant observations and in-depth interviews with these unique individuals.
