Joe Docherty

Lecturer in Marketing
Joe Docherty has over 25 years of marketing experience either as a practitioner or as a lecturer. Prior to joining Glasgow Caledonian University in 2003, he worked as a marketing consultant serving a range of public and private sector clients. Previous consultancy projects include work that was shortlisted for a Scottish Marketing Award in the small and medium sized (SME) business category.

He currently teaches in a number of areas related to (i) marketing (ii) market research and (iii) entrepreneurial/small business skills. Subjects include strategic marketing management, marketing research, consumer behaviour, e-marketing, and new venture creation. He also supervises Honours, MSc., and MBA dissertations.

His current research is in issues relating to knowledge transfer in the field of marketing between the Higher Education sector and small / medium sized enterprises and in e-marketing for small and medium sized enterprises.
