Linda is Head of Department of Fashion, Marketing, Tourism and Events in the Glasgow School for Business and Society, with responsibility for around 26 staff and 1000 students across 3 postgraduate and 5 undergraduate programmes.

With a background in the fashion industry Linda has worked as a designer across various market sectors, and undertaken freelance and consultancy projects in fashion, textile and product design. She is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy with significant experience in teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and collaborates with fashion businesses on projects and initiatives that give students a ‘real-world’ perspective and experience in dealing with clients. These have included international brands such as Harris Tweed, Barbour, Alex Begg, Mackintosh, Gore and Stewart Christie & Co, among others. As well as teaching fashion design and production, Linda specialises in Lectra Computer Aided Design systems and leads a final year Applied CAD module that helps students transition into employment.

Having completed a Master of Philosophy by research at Glasgow School of Art, Linda is undertaking a PhD by prior publications. Her research interest lies in the relationship of dress and identity, focusing on periods of change and disruption to the physical form. She also contributes to the Consumer Lifestyles and Experience research group, having published in the areas of sustainability and vintage retailing.

Linda was previously Postgraduate Programme Portfolio Lead for GSBS and has led and developed undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Glasgow and GCU London. Outside GCU she has been an External Examiner at Westminster University and Glasgow School of Art.
