Catherine is a recognised expert in consumer behaviour and leads modules in consumer behaviour and marketing. She manages the undergraduate supervision process of Honours Dissertations for the department coordinating 300 students and over 30 members of supervision staff. Catherine is also an experienced Mentor and Coach and holds the position of Academic Mentor Lead for staff in FMTE.

Passionate about transformation, human behaviour and collaborative practice, Catherine thrives in a community environment, she contributes actively to the GCU mentoring network and is a member of the department research group: ‘Consumer Lifestyles and Experiences’. Catherine is also part of a research team studying vintage fashion and sustainability and was invited to be an academic judge for the Institute of Business Ethics, in their annual student essay competition, a role she has held for many years. Catherine’s interest in the sustainability agenda is apparent in the modules she leads and in her interest in mentoring colleagues. She designed, created and leads the department mentoring process because she is motivated by inspiring others to learn, develop and be empowered to access their potential.

In the past Catherine worked in the food industry for ten years in a variety of management positions. She adapted her leadership skills to GCU where she successfully managed undergraduate and post graduate programmes including the MSc in Marketing. She obtained a MSc in Marketing at the University of Strathclyde in 2001. An advocate of continuous lifelong learning and development, she held the post of Learning Teaching and Assessment Coordinator for six years, which enabled collaboration with staff within the department, the school and throughout the university.
