Santander Universities

GCU is a member of the prestigious international Santander Universities network, which brings together almost 1,000 universities, throughout Spain, Portugal, Latin America and the UK.

This strategic partnership between the University and Santander has created a range of opportunities for both staff and students to participate in a range of activities and to encourage exchange and interaction between members of GCU and other member universities of the Santander Universities network.

Santander £5K Postgraduate Scholarship

Funding is available each year to study a full time Masters level programme at GCU or GCU London. You must hold an offer of a place to study before submitting your scholarship application.

Santander Travel Awards

Santander Universities Travel Scholarships of up to £1000 are available for existing undergraduate, postgraduate, PhD students and GCU Staff.

This scholarship could fund spending a period of time, a semester or a study visit at another university within the Santander network. Alternatively it could be for a work-related research project with a commercial partner or, for GCU staff, the scholarship can be used to enhance collaborative working within the Santander University network or attending work related conferences developing the awareness of GCU.

UHatch Entrepreneurial Support

Supported by Santander Universities, UHatch is GCU’s small business incubator and accelerator space. It is designed to assist entrepreneurial students, graduates and alumni in the development and growth of commercial and social enterprises/businesses. Working within UHatch gives you the opportunity to access detailed knowledge, increase your network of contacts and receive support in a number of other areas.

Magnus Magnusson Awards

GCU students can apply to the Magnusson Fund to support their dream project. Perhaps you would like to….

Who can Apply

Any student who is in their second year upwards, or to young researchers in the early stages of their academic careers. Applications from any discipline and from any part of the University or for almost any kind of proposal that will help individuals to reach their dreams are welcome.

However, judges will be especially pleased to receive applications from areas relating to any of Magnus Magnusson's personal interests, including the media, history, language, literature and the natural environment. Applicants must demonstrate achievement in their chosen area, and have a clear plan to take their work forward

Internships for SMEs

The Santander Internship scheme has now opened for 2017/18 and through it your SME can access funding to employ a talented GCU student or graduate.  Find out more about how to apply for a two week fully funded placement or part-funded internship of up to ten weeks.

Entrepreneurship Awards 2018

The Santander Universities Entrepreneurship Awards offer a fantastic chance to celebrate the success of student and graduate entrepreneurs.

Not only will winners receive cash investment to aid their ideas and business, they’ll also receive valuable press coverage through the recognition received by this initiative.

These awards are run by the Santander Universities Division, with GCU having been a member since 2009. Both students and staff continue to benefit from scholarships, internships, exchange trips and a dedicated campus branch for the GCU community.

Each University is being asked to submit one technology and one non-technology business plan.
