Diana Chapoterera training

Diana was the recipient of the Mike Smith Magnusson Award in 2021 and used the funding to train over 150 health care professionals in Zimbabwe on basic foot care and screening for diabetic foot complications, with a focus on rural areas. The project’s aim was to equip these health care workers with the knowledge required to screen patients early and prevent severe complications, reducing the number of amputations. Diana also reached out to the public with social media campaigns and distribution of leaflets advising on foot care

I would like to thank the Magnusson Panel for selecting me to be a recipient of a Magnusson Award. This funding has allowed me to reach more people who require foot care and train more health care professionals in different regions in Zimbabwe, and equip them with knowledge and resources that will allow them to educate themselves and their patients. The long term goal is to reduce amputations and this is a step towards that goal.
