Santander Universities have generously committed £25,000 in additional funding to support GCU students facing hardship as a result of Covid-19 this summer.

GCU Foundation is using the additional funding to provide bursaries for students who are experiencing financial difficulty as a result of lost income or change in circumstances.

Bursaries of £500 and £1,000 will be available with the funding set to support over 30 students by helping to ease financial pressure over the summer period.

This additional donation is part of the £4.5m which Santander Universities has provided in response to Covid-19 to support initiatives across 85 partner Universities in the UK.

Jillian Watt, Director of the GCU Foundation said:

"We are overwhelmed by the generosity of Santander Universities who have contributed a staggering £137k of support to GCU students this year alone.  Their response to the needs of our students and all their partner institutions has been truly impressive.  This summer will be particularly challenging for our students already facing financial hardship so these bursaries really will help to ease the financial pressure."
