Glasgow Caledonian University Foundation is delighted to announce renewed support from two local charities, including the Hugh Fraser Foundation, for widening access scholarships.
Building upon the impact of previous donations, the charities have awarded a collective £35,000 to establish a total of seven new Common Good Scholarships. These life enhancing awards will support to students coming to GCU in 2017 and 2018 via the University’s award winning outreach initiatives, which include the Caledonian Club and the Advanced Higher Hub.
Donor supported awards such as Common Good Scholarships play an important role in ensuring finance is not a barrier to education, supporting talented students who could otherwise face financial difficulties studying at University.
Dr Kenneth Chrystie, Chairman of the Hugh Fraser Foundation said:
“We are delighted to renew our support of scholarships at GCU, which shares our vision in providing educational opportunities for all. I look forward to meeting the new beneficiaries and wish them well with their studies.”
Jillian Watt, Director of Glasgow Caledonian University Foundation commented:
“We are extremely grateful to both charities for renewing their support. Scholarships are very special gifts. They support students in need by alleviating some of the financial burden, allowing the recipients to turn their focus on reaching their full potential.”
