Glasgow Caledonian University Foundation welcomed staff from GFG and Liberty to host their first ever scholar’s reception in Scotland on Wednesday 26th June.

The event brought together beneficiaries from across GFG’s programmes of support including local school pupils and students with aspirations for a career in STEM. Attendees included Matthew Green and Samuel Prince, two of the inaugural GFG Foundation scholars studying at GCU.

Matthew, a first year BEng Computer Aided Mechanical Engineering student had the opportunity to speak at the event. He said: “It has been great to get the chance to meet my sponsors in person; as well as other scholars from across the city and beyond. My GFG Foundation scholarship has, and will continue to, make a big difference.

GFG scholarships support students joining GCU from school or college onto undergraduate degree programmes which link directly to GFG’s core business activities including Computer Aided Mechanical Engineering and Fire Risk Engineering.

Nina Campbell from the GCU Foundation said “The event marked a successful first year of support from GFG. We are delighted to be one of their partner institutions, sharing in their vision to help young people reach their full potential.”
