Victoria’s award ensures she can continue to compete internationally and continue her studies.
Victoria has been kayaking since she was 9 years old and began wild water racing when she started studying at GCU.
Within 6 months, she was the Scottish wild water racing sprint champion and was selected as part of Team GB for the Senior World Championships. She has been inspired by athletes like Fiona Pennie and David Florence who have been role models for her within the sport, which is something she aims to emulate for future generations. She is also a volunteer coach at the second largest canoe club in Britain, where she mentors younger athletes and helps them to follow their dreams. Her Magnusson Award will allow her to purchase a new boat, which will allow her to progress further in both training and competitions, helping her move towards achieving her dream of becoming a world champion wild water racer.
