GCU Foundation 2018 Impact

Donald took part in a group study trip to the African Leadership College (ALC) in Mauritius, one of GCU’s international partners.

I can’t thank Sir Alex enough for his generous funding. I loved every moment of the trip and I will remember it for the rest of my life. I was able to meet some amazing people and coming from a small town with very little diversity it has opened my eyes that there is so much out there for me to experience. This is something that can’t be taught and I am so grateful that I was able to be a part of the ALC trip.

Emma received a retailTRUST and Hammerson Seed Funding Award to help develop her business.

The grant will enable me to grow my business a lot quicker than anticipated. It will help me bring out a new collection and fund extra stock, which I will launch at a pop-up store at the Barras Art and Design Centre in Glasgow next year. The funding will also help me pay for a studio, which will give me a place to work and stay focused on the business. I really appreciate the faith that retailTRUST, Hammerson and GCU have in me and my business idea, it honestly means the world.

Victoria received a 2018 Sir Alex Ferguson Magnusson Award helping her to buy a boat to continue competing on an international level.

My sport has limited financial support and due to this I was unsure if I would be able to afford to compete at international level in my final two university years. Thanks to the award I can continue to follow my sporting dream of becoming a world champion wild water racer while also continuing my studies into art and animation at GCU. This means the world to me. Thank you!
