‘When Martin met Midge’ - Supporting GCU’s Common Good Campaign

Martin Compston and Midge Ure

Martin Compston and Midge Ure took part in a special online event to help raise funds for our Common Good Campaign, supporting students who have been hit hardest by the pandemic.

When Line of Duty actor Martin and musician Midge, both Honorary Graduates of the university, first met at GCU back in 2018, they had an instant connection and shared much common ground. Together as part of our event, they shared stories from their careers to date, speaking for the first time about Martin’s portrayal of Midge in the comedy drama Urban Myths, as well as sharing what has inspired their commitment to supporting a variety of charitable causes.

The Common Good Campaign was launched with the backing of Sir Alex Ferguson CBE to support our students hardest hit by the pandemic, with nearly 700 students and new graduates already benefitting.  All funds raised will help alleviate financial pressures through student bursaries and provide match funded internship opportunities to boost employability.
