Media & Journalism

Media and journalism at Glasgow Caledonian is undeniably top notch, boasting one of the longest established and most successful track records in the UK for education in this field.

Running for a quarter of a century, the media programme embraces a wide range of contemporary media – television, cinema, press, public relations, advertising, plus new digital media and the internet. Analysis of media trends and creative texts is combined with practical work in video & audio production, web media, public relations and advertising.

Industry standard facilities

Dedicated studio facilities for video and audio production offer training using up-to-date digital equipment, whilst high-level staff expertise ensures quality work across a wide range of media research, consultancy and training projects.

Backed up by industry-qualified staff, the sister programme in multimedia journalism makes the most of on-the-job expertise, with one team member editing a major international journal on broadcasting and radio and another having edited weekly newspapers in Scotland for many years.

Students start working on articles from day one, with a number shortlisted for the "Write Stuff" journalism awards, as well as writing their own columns. Sporting events, match commentaries, entertainment and special events are all represented in print by enterprising new writers from this programme.
