Rapid Design Manufacturing

The Rapid Design and Manufacture Centre is a multi-technology Rapid Prototyping research and education facility, the first of its kind in Scotland. It is jointly managed by the four Higher Education institutions in Glasgow:

  • Glasgow University
  • Strathclyde University
  • Glasgow School of Art
  • Glasgow Caledonian University

Formerly known as 4WARDS, the RDM Centre was established with a grant from the Scottish Higher Education Funding Council (SHEFC). The Centre's aim is to provide cost effective access to Rapid Prototyping for the purposes of research and education across both academia and industry. The Centre runs a wide range of RP related activities across a broad platform of application areas including:

  • Product Design
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Bioengineering
  • Marine Engineering

Professor David Harrison and Professor Bruce Wood of Glasgow Caledonian University are founding directors of the RDM Centre.
