Professor JiaQian Jiang is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management. He has a PhD degree in Environmental Engineering from Imperial College London and has the expertise of research and teaching in the field of water and environmental science and engineering. His main research interests are: Development and use of water treatment chemicals; design and optimisation of water treatment unit processes; nutrients recovery from wastewater; and degradation of emerging micro-pollutants in aquatic environments.

As a principal supervisor, Prof Jiang has successfully supervised 14 doctoral students and 6 post-doc researchers to completion and advised numerous dissertations of MSc’s and final year undergraduates’. He has also developed new teaching syllabus and delivers teachings in the subject of water and wastewater treatment technology and engineering, environmental and water chemistry and the chemical engineering related.

His research activities, with full collaboration at national and international level, are funded by the Research Council UK, EU Research Council, UK/Scottish/international industries, UK KTP scheme, British Council and other overseas funding organisations. He has been highly active in scientific societies; he is a member of EPSRC College, a Research Assessor of The Carnage Trust for Scottish Universities, an invited external PhD examiner at various universities, a member of expert committee of EU Research for innovation, an invited research proposals’ assessor for various international funding organisations, a member of programme committees, a sessions’ chair/member of advisory board of various international conferences, and an associate editor/member of editorial board of various international journals. Prof Jiang’s researches have produced numerous outputs, which have high impact to the academic community and scientific societies.
