• development and use of water treatment chemicals (e.g., adsorbent, coagulant, disinfectant, and oxidant),
• design and optimisation of water treatment unit processes (e.g., coagulation, filtration),
• nutrients recovery from wastewater (e.g. phosphorus recovery), and
• degradation of emerging micro-pollutants in aquatic environments.
His research activities, with full collaboration at national and international level, are funded by the Research Council UK (e.g., EPSRC), EU Research Council, UK/Scottish/international industries (e.g., Thames Water, Southern Water, Borax Europe Ltd, Lake Constance Water Supply and Scottish Water), UK KTP Scheme, British Council and other overseas funding organisations. Prof Jiang’s researches have produced more than 170 publications, which have high impact to the scientific community with h index of 37 from both Thomson Reuters Web of Science Citation Report and Elsevier Scopus Citation Overview and 39 from Google Scholar Citations.
As a principal supervisor, Prof Jiang has supervised 13 doctoral students and 6 post-doc researchers to completion and numerous dissertations of MSc’s and final year undergraduates’. He has also developed new teaching syllabus and delivers teachings in the subject of water and wastewater treatment technology and engineering, environmental and water chemistry and the chemical engineering related.
