Fiona Fairlie

Fiona is Programme Leader for the BSc (Hons) Computing and BSc (Hons) IT Management for Business programmes. The programmes aim to meet key requirements employers have identified for graduates working in the area of software development and were developed in close partnership with sector skills organisations and large scale industry players. She leads the GCU side of a Computing programme being delivered at ALC (Mauritius). This is an innovative partnership delivering a Computing degree to students studying in Africa using a blended delivery mode. She is also a lecturer in Software Engineering. Her current teaching focuses on web development and interaction design.

Fiona’s main research interests lie in the areas of Human Computer Interaction and educational research . As a member of the Multimodal Interaction Group she carried out research in the area of interactive interface development and as a member of the CEER (Computing and Engineering Education Research) group worked in educational research. A particular interest is e-learning and the potential of using a blended approach to curriculum development. As a Caledonian Scholar she has also worked in the area of enhancing student feedback.
