Anjali De Silva is a Professor of Manufacturing Engineering within the School of Computing, Engineering and Built Environment. She gained her PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Edinburgh and BSc(Hons) in Engineering from the University of Aberdeen. Her academic career spans over several decades, lecturing in materials & manufacturing areas at GCU, and prior to joining GCU at Edinburgh and Napier Universities. Her research expertise in Advanced Manufacturing Technology encompasses Precision Machining, especially Electrochemical/Electrodischarge/Laser and their hybrids, where she has international recognition as an expert; Novel Joining techniques; Metal Forming; Robotic Polishing; Composite Manufacturing; Condition Monitoring; NDT and Sustainability of Manufacturing Processes. She has lead several collaborative research projects - two EU and five industrial, resulting in two patents. She has over 20 successful PhD completions and over 150 peer refereed publications.
