Alistair Reid

Alistair Reid is a lecturer in the School of Computing, Engineering and Built Environment. His areas of teaching and research are focused on Diagnostic monitoring techniques and systems for early warning of catastrophic events. Areas of application include monitoring the insulation integrity of high value assets in the power transmission grid (HV transformers, cable, substations) and monitoring of potentially disastrous natural events, such as earthquakes. Research areas include sensor design, wireless sensor networks, measurement/characterisation/feature extraction of high frequency transients (partial discharge), low power embedded system design, power management, and novel energy harvesting techniques to continuously power remote on-line sensor systems.
