Research

The UN’s Sustainable Development Goals or SDGs are at the heart of our research strategy. We were the first to adopt this approach. These global goals reflect our ethos which is: University for the Common Good. The School contributes to each of GCU’s Social Challenges - Healthy LivesInclusive Societies and Sustainable Environments - with a particular focus on Built Environment and Efficient Systems.

Several Research Centres have been established as part of the drive to promote multi-disciplinary research across the School. These include Built Environment Asset Management research centre, which tackles climate-change issues affecting manmade structures and their surroundings and the Centre for Climate Justice, which addresses climate inequality and promotes a transformative approach to tackle the root cause of climate change.

GCU’s new SMART Technology Centre also focuses on increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of infrastructures, systems and processes in man-made environments.
