Our brief was to develop a CPD training scheme that would support the needs of GHA technical staff allowing them to develop their current skill set and experience to allow them to deal with the ever increasing complexities of effectively manage assets. The programme was designed to be delivered for half a day per month to suit busy schedules over a period of 2 years.
We were looking for a training programme which satisfied the varied skill requirements of our technical teams - our strategic partnerships with GCU is delivering this for us.
CBES Constructive Solutions
The courses designed for CBES consisted of eight half-day modules, covering such topics as Project Management & Programming, Risk Management, Contracts & Negotiations, Leadership, Procurement, Dispute Resolution and TQM.
The programme aimed to enrich the soft skills of project management for the CBES staff in order that they could engage with their clients and fully appreciate all aspects of project management and how each element impacts upon another.

Following discussions with the School we were able to develop the Certificate of Project Management course that was bespoke to the company and fully aligned with our business. A total of 62 managers have now undertaken the programme. We look forward to working closely with GCU to support the future development requirements of our employees.
Howden and Glasgow Caledonian University have worked in partnership to develop Howden Academy. In 2011, this partnership won Gold at the 2011 eLearning Awards for Excellence in the Production of Learning Content in the Private Sector.
The Howden Academy combines Howden's specialist engineering skills and experience with our teaching expertise and world-class learning facilities.
The University's academic staff are fully involved in the preparation of teaching materials, enabling Howden Academy to use the best techniques available.
Training methods draw on traditional work supported by comprehensive notes and materials, delivered in manageable modules including web-based and video-based systems learning materials. Training consists of two courses each year, supported by Howden's e-learning system.
Howden Academy graduate receives a certificate from GCU.
