Funded opportunities to employ a Student or Graduate Intern

Glasgow Caledonian University is offering businesses the opportunity to take on an Intern, with the cost of their salary being fully funded by the Santander Universities Employability Scheme.

The programme is designed to provide GCU students and graduates with access to quality work experience, to strengthen their long term career prospects.

The GCU (Santander) Internship Programme 2020-21 provides an affordable way for businesses to benefit from the skills and talent of a student or recent graduate to deliver a fixed term project.

Employer Guidelines:

  • The programme is open to organisations registered and based in the UK, including companies, start-ups, sole traders, and partnerships from all sectors.
  • Internships will be 114 hours in duration with the intern working on a full-time or part-time basis.
  • Full-time position based on a 35-hour week.
  • Part time positions will not exceed 15 hours per week during term time, to ensure that the programme is open to students while studying.
  • Santander will provide full funding through the University of 100% of the costs towards a GCU intern’s salary, capped at £1,000.
  • All Internships must be completed by Friday 27 August 2021.
  • The intern salary will be equivalent to or exceed the UK living wage.
  • Internship opportunities are open to GCU Students and recent Graduates only.
  • Eligible businesses will advertise internship role specifications on GCU’s Vacancy Service.
  • Businesses will interview and select their chosen candidate via their normal recruitment process.
