Common Good Award

‌Glasgow Caledonian is the University for the Common Good.  Our mission is to make a positive difference to the communities we serve and this is at the heart of all we do.

The Common Good Award is a personal development and skills award which aims to encourage and support our students to develop the skills and attributes needed to make a positive difference.

It provides a mechanism through which to promote, recognise and reward the informal learning you have gained through co or extracurricular activity (paid or unpaid), and where you have developed the Glasgow Caledonian Common Good Attributes:

  • Active and Global Citizenship
  • Confidence
  • Entrepreneurial Mindset
  • Responsible Leadership

The Common Good Award will give you a formal record of your Common Good activities which will provide employers with evidence of the skills you have developed. It will also help you to speak knowledgeably and confidently about the experience and knowledge you have gained, and how these fit with what employers are looking for in a graduate.

The Common Good Award is a flexible award that fits alongside‌ your studies and gives you the opportunity to reflect on the attributes and competencies you are gaining as you progress through your university studies, while at the same time enabling you to plan ahead and work toward your career goals.

To register for the Common Good Award simply log in to GCU Learn with your user name and password, and search for 'Common Good Award' in the 'My Communities' section, or download the 'How to self-enrol' document below.

Please note that during the pilot year of 2017/18, the Common Good Award will be open to Level 3 (3rd year) students and above only. The Award will be open to all students in session 2018/19.

We will be running a series of lunchtime information sessions on the Common Good award during October 2017 - there is a downloadable programme below. We hope to see you there!
