Meet with a careers adviser

A Careers Clinic is a 15 minute meeting with a careers adviser to discuss quick or initial career related enquiries for one of the following:

•    CV
•    Covering letter
•    Application and personal statement
•    Job search (including graduate, placements, internships, and part-time jobs)
•    Recruitment (including interviews, assessment centres and tests)
•    Postgraduate study options / applications

Book the Careers Clinic here (to view an online tutorial for the booking system click here).

If you are a GCU graduate within two years of graduation, please email studentsupport@gcu.ac.uk and provide them with a small selection of times and dates over a two week period detailing when you are available. By giving us these options, it will be easier for us to make an appointment at a time which suits you.

If you can’t keep your appointment, it is easy to cancel. Use the link in your e-mail booking confirmation and free up the space for another student. It is important that you arrive on time to make full use of your 15 minute meeting.

  • Detailed review of only one of: CV; covering letter; application; personal statement or LinkIn profile. Please bring a paper copy to your appointment.
  • Career options with my degree
  • Placement and graduate job search
  • Further study
  • Course withdrawal/change

Practice Interview

(open to all undergraduate and postgraduate students, and GCU graduates of up to 2 years)

A Practice Interview lasts for up to 45 minutes and is designed to give you the chance to practice your interview skills and receive feedback to help you to prepare for the real thing.

•    Prepare well by using the Successful Interviews leaflet available in the resources section on our website
•    Your appointment confirmation e-mail will tell you how to send a copy of your application and/or CV, together with details of the job you’re being interviewed for.  We require this at least 3 working days in advance to ensure that we can tailor questions appropriately.
