Make A Careers Appointment

If you would like to meet with a Careers Adviser for a Careers Clinic, Careers Appointment or Practice Interview, please use our online system to book your appointment . Appointments with a Careers Adviser are available all year round to our current students and to graduates for up to two years after graduation.

If you can’t keep your appointment, it is easy to cancel. Use the link in your appointment e-mail confirmation and free up the space for another student. It is important that you arrive on time to make full use of your meeting.

To book an Appointment, Careers Clinic or Practice Interview you must first be registered with CareerHub. If you are registered, book by clicking here.
If you are not registered with CareerHub please register first by following these instructions:

To register as a student:

  • If you are a current student and did not opt-in to use CareerHub during student registration you can give your consent by clicking here. Please wait 24 hours for access to be given.
  • Once you have access you can login by clicking here.
  • Your username and password will be the same as your university username and password.

To register as a graduate:

  • If you are a graduate of the last 2 years you can register by clicking here (click ‘new user’ to register as a graduate).
  • Once you have access you can login, click here.

 How to book an Appointment, Clinic or Practice Interview:

Once registered please see below for how to book with a Careers Adviser:

  • Log into career hub by clicking here.
  • Click ‘Appointments’ on the tab at the top of the page or the ‘Book an appointment’ link in the middle summary box of the main page.
  • Choose a topic from the list of topics.
  • After choosing a topic you will see a calendar which shows available dates.
  • Choose the date that suits
  • Choose the time that suits and click ‘view appointment’
  • Book the appointment on the next page.

 

Careers Clinic (15 minutes):

For quick career enquiries that will focus on:

  • Sections of your CV, covering letter, application, personal statement or LinkedIn profile
  • Understanding aspects of the recruitment process ( applications, interview techniques, assessment centres and tests)
  • Part-time, internship and placement job search
  • Change of course or withdrawal

Please be realistic about what can be discussed during a 15 minute clinic session.

Careers Appointment (45 minutes):

These can be used to explore your career options and for in-depth discussions on:

  • Detailed review of only one of: CV, covering letter, application, personal statement or LinkedIn profile. Please bring a paper copy to your appointment.
  • Career planning and decision making
  • Further study, including postgraduate options and applications
  • Graduate job search and recruitment process
  • Work and Study abroad

Practice Interview (45 minutes):

Designed to give you the chance to practice your interview skills and receive feedback to help you prepare for the real thing. You will be asked to email your CV or application as a Word document at least 3 working days in advance of the appointment, along with the relevant job description.

GCU Graduate:

If you have graduated within the last two years and wish to speak to a careers adviser, please use our appointment system. You may need to register as a Graduate first before you can access this system but this is easy to do and should be active within 24 hours. Any issues please email us at careers@gcu.ac.uk

 

Career Conversations:

Career Conversations are unique to GCU. They offer a new way of learning from employers in an informal and relaxed setting and there is no need to sign-up. You can come on your own or with a few others who have the same questions or interests. Career Conversations are ideal for you talk with employers to:

  • Discuss internships, graduate jobs and other opportunities
  • Find out what’s happening in the employer’s industry
  • Get advice on how to get relevant work experience
  • Learn about recruitment processes
