The Think Ahead Project helps S3 pupils think about the different pathways available to them after school. Working together in teams, pupils take part in challenges aimed at increasing their knowledge and understanding of career pathways and post-school destinations. Following this in-school session, pupils visit the university to find out more about the academic schools and subjects on offer. On campus, pupils take part in practical activities and speak to university staff, working on skills such as decision-making, team working and problem solving.
As pupils make key decisions throughout their educational journey, the Caledonian Club seeks to ensure that our members aspire to be all they can be and are aware of the opportunities available to them. Through our S3 Think Ahead and S6 Shadowing projects, pupils have the opportunity to explore courses, take part in activities, and meet with academic staff to provide career information, support and guidance at these key junctures.
Continuing the suite of activities offered to S6 pupils, Club members take part in a school workshop in September, and are invited to return to GCU to take part in the S6 Shadowing Project in October. This project gives pupils a chance to shadow a university student for a day in an area of study that interests them. At the university pupils attend first year classes, take a tour of the campus and speak to subject experts.
